National Religious Outreach Coordinator

People of Faith Against the Death Penalty is seeking a national religious outreach coordinator. This is a full-time position.

PFADP is a national nonprofit organization currently headquartered in Carrboro, NC. PFADP’s mission is to educate and mobilize faith communities to act to abolish the death penalty in the United States. Founded in 1994, PFADP provides public education and grassroots organizing and mobilizing on the death penalty focused on faith communities. PFADP also provides media outreach and technical assistance throughout the United States. PFADP views the next decade as a kairos moment on the death penalty, a special opportunity for lasting changes towards abolition.

At this exciting moment in time, our goal for this position is to facilitate the disposition of the human, political, and financial resources of faith-based communities in the United States towards abolishing the death penalty in the United States. This position involves working with both religious and lay leaders from faith communities and leaders of state and national death penalty repeal organizations. The national religious outreach coordinator will work at the forefront on mobilizing the religious community to new heights of involvement on the death penalty.

This position is best suited for a self-motivated, diligent person with relevant experience in social justice advocacy and religious communities. A good sense of humor helps, too.

Location:

This position can be located off-site in a death penalty state depending on the applicant. PFADP’s office is currently located about one mile from the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill but we will likely relocate closer to or in Raleigh, NC in 2011.
