Undoing four centuries of government executions is not easy.

Yesterday NC Gov. Pat McCrory signed Senate Bill 306 into law, repealing the NC Racial Justice Act and setting off a costly legal challenge in the courts before any executions would resume.

Please take a moment and tell Gov. McCrory he has made a serious mistake. This will be our final action alert on the RJA for a while.

The RJA was not about repealing the death penalty. It was a necessary acknowledgement of the centuries of racial bias distorting our courts’ abilities to decide who should live and who should die.

But we are about repealing the death penalty. More and more people are joining us. And encourage you to continue to support our efforts with a gift of $100 or $50 or whatever you can afford.
No campaign for justice travels a smooth road.

We are keeping on. We are approaching 1,000 resolutions for repeal from every county in North Carolina.

Thank you for all that you did to make the Racial Justice Act a model for our country.

You know what? You are a model for our country.
