Pentecostals are more likely to oppose the death penalty than other Protestant denominations in America, according to a new Gallop poll.

“Views on the death penalty show greater similarity across denominations, with Baptists and nondenominational Protestants joining mainline Protestants in strong majority acceptance of the practice. Pentecostals stand alone with a significantly lower acceptance of the death penalty than any other denominational group.”

Lutherans, Presbyterians, and Southern Baptists all support the death penalty at about the same rate, 71 percent.

I find it hard to believe that ANY Christian supports the death penalty! It goes against every teaching of Christ. "You've heard it said 'Eye for eye and tooth for tooth' but I tell you - love your enemies and do good to those who hurt you."
