Let's not lose hope.

Arkansas has executed Ledell Lee, a black man, despite untested DNA, his intellectual disability, his drunk lawyer, and his judge who slept with his prosecutor.

In contrast, on the same evening another Southern state’s governor commuted the death sentence of a man, Ivan Teleguz, at the urging of three former state attorneys general and many others because of concerns about what the Virginia jury was told when deciding his sentence.

The outlier is Arkansas. Most of the world and most of the country do not practice the #deathpenalty. It is dying. Even Arkansas went 12 years without an execution.

We continue the struggle for abolition because we are a people of hope in the arc of the moral universe.

It bends.

Towards justice.
