Victory! Let's All Thank NC's Gov PDF Print E-mail
December 14, 2011

Congratulations! This morning NC Gov. Bev Perdue vetoed NC Senate Bill 9, the bill that repeals the NC Racial Justice Act.

NC legislative leaders called a special session right after Thanksgiving to pass S9, which repealed the RJA. Gov. Perdue today stood firm in rejecting this affront to justice. The legislature is expected to come back into session in early January to vote on the governor’s repeal.

  2. Click here to send a brief note of thanks to Gov. Perdue for her vetoing the repeal of the Racial Justice Act. We have one drafted for you.

Only 23% of voters in North Carolina oppose the RJA, according to a recent poll from Public Policy Polling. Newspapers across the state ran editorials calling on the governor to veto the bill.

Thank you for all you have done over the years to build support for passage of the RJA, and to oppose its repeal.
